The Jackson State University men's and women's tennis teams both defeated Loyola of New Orleans here on Friday, the Lady Tigers winning 4-0 while the Tigers registered a 4-2 victory.
The JSU women's team win increased its record to 13-5 on the season, while the men's team upped its record to 7-6.

The Lady Tigers, winners of nine of their last 10 matches, had a dominant performance against the LU Wolf Pack, racking up singles victories as
Paula Arcarons defeated Fatima Vasques 6-1, 6-1 with Tyra Nicole-Whyte defeating Maddie Chavez 6-2, 6-1 and Zeina Shaaban blanking Ana Castillo 6-0, 6-0.
The doubles team of
Sherine Salem/Arcarons defeated LU's Lucy Carpenter/Vasquez 7-6 (4-2) with
Daniela Ramos/Whyte defeating Elly Carpenter/Chavez 6-0, and
Natalya Ogunwale/Shaaban defeating Castillo/Selma Fereres 6-0.
Men's Match: JSU 4, LU 2
The JSU Tigers, winners of six of their last seven matches, went 1-2 in doubles play but compensated by taking four of the five singles matches.

Juan Soria Soria defeated LU's Remus Hebhang 6-3, 6-4,
Agustin Agosto defeated Diego Rodriguez 6-4, 7-5,
Richy Gamo defeated Filip Hovland 6-3, 6-2, and
Hiromu Ikeda defeated Austin Hudson 6-0, 6-2.
The doubles team of Gamo/
Francisco Vargas got the team's lone doubles win, ousting LU's Theo Debackere/Hovland by a score of 6-3.

Jackson State will host another New Orleans-based university on Saturday when Xavier-Louisiana comes to Jackson for a 12 noon battle against the Tigers and Lady Tigers at the JSU Tennis Center.
