The Jackson State University bowling team will host the annual Sonic Boom Classic at Fannin Lanes this weekend.
 
The five-team event is scheduled to begin Friday at 10 a.m., Saturday at 9:30 a.m., and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
 
The teams will compete in the Baker format on day one, team format on day two, and match play on championship Sunday. In addition to the host Lady Tigers, No. 9 Louisiana Tech, Alabama State, Grambling, and UAB, are scheduled to compete.
 
The Jackson State women have posted head-to-head wins over nationally ranked teams No. 4 Sam Houston St., No. 17 Tulane twice, and No. 24 Lincoln Memorial this season. This is the second event of the spring season for Lady Tigers' bowling, which is coming off its first league meet of the season in the SWAC Roundup last weekend.
