JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State women's tennis team hosted Jacksonville State University at the JSU Tennis Center Saturday morning. The Tigers were edged 4-3 in their second matchup of the season.
How It Happened
- Isabela Benavides and Zeina Shabaan took down their opponents in doubles, 6-5 to open the day
- Tyra-Nicole Whyte and Robin Alston nearly pulled off their doubles matchup but fell 6-5
- Paula Arcarons and Daniella Ramos also dropped their doubles matchup, 6-3 as Jax State secured the doubles point
- Arcarons redeemed herself in singles, defeating Anna Syrova, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1
- Tyra-Nicole Whyte topped Polina Ramenskaja, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (3) in singles
- Zeina Shabaan defeated Dariana Prato, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4
- Jacksonville State won three singles matches against Jackson State opponents, allowing the Gamecocks to take the 4-3 win over the Tigers

The Tigers will return to the JSU Tennis Center Sunday (Jan. 29) to host Saint Louis University. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
