JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State men's and women's tennis team took down Prairie View A&M's Friday afternoon at the JSU Tennis Center. The Tigers won 4-2 in their SWAC opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jackson State women's tennis (1-6) opened the day with doubles action as PVAMU won the doubles point winning two out of the three matches
• Robin Alston and Tyra-Nicole Whyte were the only Tigers that won their doubles matchup, 7-5, over Salma Sanchez and Anette Lira
• Paula Arcarons opened singles play defeating Aleya Wooten, 6-4, 6-2
• Tyra-Nicole Whyte won the day defeating Ruju Chauhan, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1
• Daniela Ramos topped Mahogani Green, 6-4, 7-5
• Zeina Shaaban defeated Anette Lira with a second-set shutout, 6-2, 6-0

UP NEXT
The Tigers will return to the JSU Tennis Courts Saturday for more conference action against Southern University. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
