JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State women's tennis team wrapped up play in the SWAC Pod Sunday with a huge win over Alabama State. The Tigers fought to the finish to defeat the Hornets 4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (3-6, 3-0 SWAC) opened the day with a hard fought 7-5 doubles win from Paula Acarons and Daniella Ramos.
- Tyra-Nicole Whyte and Robins Alston defeated their doubles opponents, 6-2, to give JSU the 1-0 advantage by securing the Tigers' doubles point
- Robin Alston took down L Demchenko (ASU) to open singles action, 6-2, 6-3
- Tyra-Nicole Whyte topped Urska Velec, 6-2, 6-2
- Zeina Shaaban battled Timotheee Legaud to secure her singles victory, 6-2. 5-7, 6-3 and confirm the Tigers' 4-3 win
UP NEXT
The Tigers will travel right down the road for a quick trip to Millsaps on Saturday. Both teams will begin at 10.00 a.m.
