BIRMINGHAM, Ala.| Two Jackson State volleyball athletes were named to the 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Preseason Team the conference announced Friday afternoon. Alexis Williams was tabbed SWAC Preseason First-Team Outside/Right Side Hitter and Jordan Jones was named First-Team Middle Hitter/Blocker. The Tigers were also picked to finish third in the SWAC Preseason Poll.
At the end of her junior season, Alexis Williams registered 351 kills for Jackson State. Williams finished with a 0.218 hitting percentage. She also recorded 38 aces and 20 total blocks. Williams also notched 222 digs. In 2022, she led the team in aces and kills. She was ranked fourth in the SWAC in points and kills.
Jordan Jones registered 155 kills and 52 blocks last season. She led the Tigers in blocks and was ranked fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.266).
The Tigers will open their 2023 campaign on the road in the Southern Alabama Tournament against Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 25.
