TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Despite five combined hits from
Rodney Hibler Jr. and
Lenny Montesano, Jackson State fell to Florida A&M 8-3 at Moore-Kittles Field on Friday.
Jackson State (19-7, 5-2 SWAC) dropped its first conference series of the season despite Hibler finishing 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and Montesano finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. The Tigers were held to eight hits by a pair of Florida A&M pitchers including Carson Kelly (2-1) who went 7.0 innings and allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts.
Garrett VanDeventer (3-2) suffered the loss working 3.1 innings in the start and allowing eight runs (six earned) on seven hits.
How It Happened
- (B1) Sebastian Greico reached on an infield error allowing Ty Jackson to score the game's first run, Florida A&M 1-0.
- (B2) Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk before Broedy Poppell was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Florida A&M 3-0.
- (B4) Jackson drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly to right before Poppell picked up two more RBIs with a single through the left side. Greico drove in a run with a single to left and Jakoby Stanley finished the scoring with a single to third, Florida A&M 8-0.
- (T7) Lenny Montesano doubled to center to drive in Rodney Hibler Jr., Florida A&M 8-1.
- (T9) Robert Tate Jr. reached on a fielder's choice allowing Montesano and Hibler to score, Florida A&M 8-3.
