JACKSON, Miss. | A late rally fell short for Jackson State in a 9-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) loss to Florida A&M at Braddy Field on Friday night.
Jackson State (26-15, 9-10 SWAC) scored the first run of the game before Florida A&M (21-20, 16-3 SWAC) combined for seven runs in back-to-back innings including four in the sixth to pull away. The Tigers mounted a rally in the eighth with a two-run home run from
Joseph Eichelberger before getting the lead-off runner on in the ninth.
The Tigers collected 10 hits led by three players who collected a pair of hits each in the loss including
Myles White,
Jaelen Williams, and
Tyshon Patty.
Garrett VanDeventer (5-4) suffered the loss working 5.2 innings allowing six runs on 11 hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Brandon Haston, the third pitcher on the night, worked the final 1.2 innings of hitless relief for Jackson State.

- (B3) Rodney Hibler Jr. doubled to left to score Patty with the game's first run, Jackson State 1-0.
- (T5) True Fotentot hit a three-run home run to left, Florida A&M 3-1.
- (B5) Patty singled and advanced to second on the throw allowing Sebastian Cabeza to score, Florida A&M 3-2.
- (T6) Joseph Pierini singled up the middle to drive in a run before Fontenot singled to right and Ben Kim connected for a two-run triple for the Rattlers, Florida A&M 7-2.
- (B7) Jordan McCladdie drove in Williams with a sacrifice fly, Florida A&M 7-3.
- (T8) Pierini and Adam Haidermota advanced on a wild pitch before Pierini scored on an RBI groundout, Florida A&M 9-3.
- (B8) Joseph Eichelberger hit a two-run home run to left, Florida A&M 9-5.
