BATON ROUGE, La. | Jackson State finished second on the men's side and sixth on the women's side at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships that concluded on Saturday night.

The Tigers finished with 133 points, trailing only eventual champion Texas Southern, and finished 31 points ahead of third-place UAPB. Meanwhile, on the women's side, Jackson State finished sixth with 59 points just behind Alabama A&M in fifth with 61.

Davieon Center won his second gold medal of the championships, this time in the discus with a throw of 50.66 meters (166-02), finishing nearly five feet ahead of his closest competitor. He was joined at the top of the podium by
Ledamian Rowell who claimed gold in the long jump with a distance of 15.67 meters (51-05.00), and he was joined on the medal stand by
Javon Gray in third at 15.39 meters (50-06.00).

Vincent Wilson reached the medal stand once again with a third-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 4.19 meters (13-09.00), finishing just behind Joshua Goslee of Texas Southern (14-00.75).
Jace Coleman reached the medal stand with a third-place finish in the 100 meters at 10.50 just behind Chaunzavia Lewis of Texas Southern (10.49).

On the women's side,
Alexis Morris reached the medal stand with a third-place finish in the discus at 42.73 meters (140-02).

Rowell scored more points for the Tigers in the high jump with a fourth-place finish at 2.02 meters (6-07.50).

On the track, the men's 4x100-meter relay team started the night off with points after finishing seventh overall at 40.97 just behind Bethune-Cookman and Texas Southern at 40.54. They also scored points by
Ivan Donaldson Jr. in a pair of events beginning with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.36 just behind Dwight Henry of UAPB (14.00) before finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 51.99 just behind Vaughn DeVaughn III of Alabama State (51.55).

Tyjah Edwards scored points in the 400-meters for the men with a fifth-place finish at 47.09 finishing just behind Christian Derrick of Prairie View A&M (46.51).
Caleb Crutcher scored points for the Tigers with a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.86.
Victor Kibet and
Andrew Kiplagat each scored points in the 5000 meters with Kibet reaching the medal stand with a third-place finish (15:40.72) and Kiplagat sixth at 15:50.18.

On the women's side,
Kaylin Jackson finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.68 finishing just behind Kris-Ann Plummer of UAPB (2:13.47).
Jiya Clayton and
Callie Calicut each scored points in the 400-meter hurdles with Clayton finishing fourth at 1:00.62 and Calicut sixth at 1:02.08.

The night ended when the women finished seventh in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:48.26, less than two seconds from fifth, and the men finished seventh at 3:15.61.
