JACKSON, Ms. | Jackson State dropped its home opener to Stephen F. Austin on Staurday, 7-0.
Sophomore
Paula Corbalan dropped the first set 6-2 and rallied back in the second to secure a 6-4 win. She fell in the final set 1-0. Junior Isabella Benavides joined Corbalan as the only two Lady Tigers to force their match to three sets. Benavides defeated Ana Paula Chavez 6-4 in the first set with Chavez the second set 6-4. Chavez claimed the final set with a 1-0 win.
Corbalan and Benavides also forced a tiebreaker together in doubles competition against the team of Felicia Back and Ksenia Mamontova, with Stephen F. Austin winning the doubles point 7-6.
