BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jackson State University's
Marneisha Hamer has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The league made the announcement Tuesday morning.
Hamer, a 6-1 junior from Memphis, Tenn., scored a game-high 21 points along with eight rebounds, one block and one steal in the Lady Tigers' Dec. 30 setback at Arkansas. Hamer connected on 66.7 percent of her shots in the contest.
Entering the first week of conference play, Hamer is second in the SWAC in scoring at 14.6 points per game and her 56.8 percent field-goal shooting mark is also second-best in the league.
