HAMMOND, La. – The Jackson State women's basketball team returns to action Saturday at Southeastern Louisiana. The tip is for 1 p.m.

Last Time Out

The Lady Tigers look to regroup after a close 57-54 setback at Central Arkansas. Marneisha Hamer scored a game-high 17 points.

The Lady Tigers were in a position to force overtime and in the final seconds of the fourth quarter was not able to get a final shot attempt off.

Ameshya Williams scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds to narrowly miss the double-double.

Dayzsha Rogan added 11 points and went 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. Rogan also grabbed six boards and recorded three steals.

Cherelle Jones added six points and finished 2-of-2 at the free throw line.

The Lady Tigers won the battle in front of the basket with 42 rebounds and 28 points in the paint.

Top 25 Opponents

JSU has met up with three top 25 teams: No. 18 Miami, No. 21 Indiana and No. 10 Mississippi State.

1000-Point Club

JSU senior forward Marneisha Hamer made history earlier this month at Indiana and joined the 1000-point club. The Memphis native tallied 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and secured point 1000 on a second-chance opportunity in front of the basket.

Offense Looks to Click

Last season the Lady Tigers ran opponents out of gym – literally. The Blue and White averaged 72.9 points per game and coupled that with a defense that allowed 64.1 points per game, made JSU a very difficult out. With Sumer Williams, Hamer and Lucky returning, the addition of Williams and several newcomers, the offense looks to take a step forward.

Scouting SELA

The Lions are 2-4 and have won two in a row with wins over Louisiana-Monroe (65-52) and LSU-Alexandria (89-67).

Jyar Francis is the Lions' leading scorer and averages 13.5 points per game and is a 48 percent shooter. Celicia Sterling averages 13 points per game and is shooting 34.3 percent from beyond the arc.

As a team, SELA averages 62.5 points per game and allows an average of 63.5 points per game.
