JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State women's basketball team concludes the opening weekend of SWAC play Monday and plays host to Alabama A&M.

The 94 points scored versus Alabama State was the most scored in SWAC play under Coach Reed. The Lady Tigers scored 105 points last season in the non-conference win over Spring Hill.

Kaisah Lucky scored a season-high 18 points and handed out 11 assists to record the double-double and lead the Jackson State women's basketball team past Alabama State 94-62 Saturday afternoon in the SWAC opener at the Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center.

JSU (3-8, 1-0 SWAC), which has now defeated ASU (3-9, 0-1) three times in a row, dominated from start to finish.

The Lady Tigers shot 52.9 percent (9-of-17) in the opening period and also went 6-of-6 at the charity stripe. JSU was effective on offense in the second quarter and converted 75 percent (9-of-12) of its shot attempts

For the game, JSU shot 57.4 percent (35-of-61) from the floor, while the Hornets were limited to 36.5 percent (23-of-63) from the floor.

Dayzsha Rogan, the reigning SWAC Player of the Week, finished with 13 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field. The Ripley, Mississippi native also went 6-of-6 at the free-throw line.

Marneisha Hamer added 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor while hauling in seven rebounds.

Ameshya Williams scored 10 points and nine rebounds.

Rogan Picks up SWAC and College Sports Madness Player of the Week Accolades
Â
Dayzsha Rogan has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week and College Sports Madness SWAC Player of the Week after her impressive efforts over this past week of play.
Â
Rogan scored a career-high 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field to lead Jackson State past Louisiana 65-54.

The Ripley, Miss. native was 3-of-7 from behind the arc and 6-of-8 shooting from the charity stripe. She also recorded four assists, four rebounds, and added a steal during the contest.

JSU has met up with three top 25 teams: No. 18 Miami, No. 21 Indiana and No. 10 Mississippi State. The Lady Tigers are clearly not afraid to schedule quality competition.

JSU senior forward
Marneisha Hamer made history earlier this month at Indiana and joined the 1000-point club. The Memphis native tallied 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and secured point 1000 on a second-chance opportunity in front of the basket.

Jackson State never trailed and routed Alabama A&M 69-51 Thursday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.

JSU improves to 15-13 and 11-6 in the SWAC, while AAMU falls to 13-15 and 8-9 in the conference. With the win, JSU Improved its chances to host the first round of the SWAC tournament next Tuesday. A win over Alabama State on Saturday clinches a home court in the first round.

Marneisha Hamer put in another dazzling performance. Hamer, a nominee for SWAC Player of the Year, scored a game-high 26 points on 11-of-13 shooting from the field. The Memphis native also added four rebounds and converted 4-of-5 attempts at the free-throw line.

Christina Ellis, who is coming off SWAC Player of the Week honors, dropped 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting. The senior handed out four assists and went 4-of-5 at the charity stripe.

Chelsea Causey added seven points, grabbed four rebounds and added a block. Junior
Kaisah Lucky scored six points on 3-of-4 shooting.

The Lady Tigers dominated in front of the rim. JSU out-rebounded AAMU 40-34 and scored 30 points in the paint.

The Blue and White's defense caused AAMU into 15 turnovers and held the visitors to 32.3 percent (20-of-62) from the field. Meanwhile, JSU shot 50.9 percent (27-of-53) from the floor.

Scouting Alabama A&M
Â
Alabama A&M enters with a 4-8 overall record and 0-1 mark in conference play. The Lady Bulldogs have earned wins over San Diego State, Georgia State, Denver and Florida A&M. AAMU dropped its SWAC opener to Grambling 69-69.

The Lady Bulldogs have two players who are averaging in double-digits. Dariauna Lewis averages a double-double with 15.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She also has a team-high 15 blocks.

DeShawna Harper is sporting 13.6 points per game and has handed out a team-high 27 assists.
