JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State women's basketball team looks to continue its winning ways as it begins a two-game road swing at rival Alcorn State.

HBCU All-American Marneisha Hamer and Dayzsha Rogan each rank in the top 10 in the conference in points per game. Hamer is averaging 13.6 and Rogan 11.9 points per game.
 
Hamer and Ameshya Williams both rank in the top five in the conference in rebounds. Williams is hauling in 8.7 and Hamer 6.2 rebounds per game.
 
In the win over Alabama State, Kaisah Lucky had her best performance on the season. The Brooklyn, New York product scored a game-high 18 points and handed out a career-high 11 assists. Lucky followed the performance versus ASU with a seven-point, eight-assist performance versus Alabama A&M.
 
The 94 points scored versus Alabama State were the most scored in SWAC play under Coach Reed. The Lady Tigers scored 105 points last season in the non-conference win over Spring Hill.
 
Last Time Out
 
Williams scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, as the Jackson State women's basketball team drilled Alabama A&M 67-53 Monday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.
 
Both teams traded baskets in the first half and the Lady Tigers went into halftime with a 31-26 advantage.
 
JSU (4-8, 2-0 SWAC) pulled away in the second half and outscored AAMU (4-8, 0-2 SWAC) 36-27 over the final 20 minutes to close out the contest.
 
Lucky, who recorded a double-double this past Saturday versus Alabama State, turned out another splendid performance and scored seven points and handed out a game-high eight assists.
 
Hamer added 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. Hamer also was a perfect 2-2 at the free-throw line.
 
Rogan dropped a team-high 17 points and converted 3-of-6 attempts from beyond the arc.
 
As a team, JSU shot 46 percent (29-of-63) from the field, while holding AAMU to 31.9 percent (22-of-69) from the floor.
 
JSU forced AAMU into 21 turnovers which were turned into 25 points. The Lady Tigers also dominated in front of the basket with 41 rebounds and 44 points in the paint.
 
Last Time Versus Alcorn State (Feb. 9, 2019)
 
Former Lady Tiger Chelsea Causey scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, both game-highs, as Jackson State rolled past Alcorn State 82-61 and the Lady Tigers secured the regular-season sweep over their rivals.
 
Aside from Causey, JSU alum Christina Ellis added 19 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor and hauled in nine rebounds, recorded five steals and handed out four assists.
 
Hamer dropped 11 points and was an efficient 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
 
Sophomore D'Asia Mitchell added seven points, Lucky handed out eight assists and scored six points.
 
The Blue and White dominated in the paint with 42 points and out-rebounded Alcorn 49-38.
 
The Lady Tigers forced 20 turnovers, which was promptly turned into 28 points. JSU also recorded 28 bench points and 19 second-chance points.
 
Scouting Alcorn State
 
The Lady Braves sport two student-athletes who average double figures. LaRae Rascoe averages 13.1 points per game, while Jada Hargrove is scoring 11.4. Hargrove is also the Lady Braves leading rebounder with 3.9 board per game, while Aysha Kirkland averages 3.6 rebounds per game.
 
Alcorn State enters with a 5-9 overall record and 1-1 mark in conference play with wins over Louisiana College, Tennessee State, Tougaloo, Florida A&M and Prairie View A&M.
