BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Jackson State's Ameshya Williams its SWAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her outstanding performance this past week.

Williams (Gulfport, Miss.) finished with a career high 28 points and 14 rebounds in the Lady Tigers non-conference win against Nicholls State (75-60). The senior center also tallied her second double-double of the season. WIlliams currently ranks second on the team with 18.3 points per game.

She also leads Jackson State with 9.5 rebounds per game. Williams ranks 11th nationally in blocked shots with 14 blocked shots on the season while ranking 7th nationally with 3.50 blocked shots per game.
 
Heading into this season Williams was named the 2020-21 SWAC Women's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year while also garnering SWAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year recognition.
 
Other Notable Performances:

• Mississippi Valley State's Mahoney Zakiya averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds a game this past week for MVSU.
• Grambling State's Alexus Holt was a significant contributor during the Lady Tigers first win of the season as she tallied with 12 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists in a road victory over ULM. She then tied a season-high with 17 points in a hard fought road loss at UAB.
