MIAMI, Fla. – The 2021-22 Jackson State women's basketball season officially tips off Tuesday as the Tigers travel to Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent Miami.

Jackson State and Miami last met on the basketball court in 2019, with Miami withstanding JSU's second-half charge in an 83-68 decision. Ameysha Williams posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Dayzsha Rogan added 10 points and
Keshuna Luckett dropped six points.
Jackson State Preseason SWAC No. 1
The Jackson State women's basketball team was picked to finish first in the 2021-22 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Poll. The preseason poll was voted upon by the league head coaches and sports information directors.
In 2020-21, JSU finished 18-6 and 14-1 in the SWAC and earned the No. 1 seed in the SWAC tournament. The Tigers captured the SWAC tournament championship for the first time since 2008 and earned the No. 15 seed in the NCAA tournament.
JSU returns its core from the NCAA tournament team, notably led by reigning SWAC Player of the Year

Rogan and Williams Highlighted on Preseason All-SWAC Team
Dayzsha Rogan was named the SWAC Preseason Player of the Year and
Ameshya Williams the SWAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Rogan and Williams were voted All-SWAC First Team.
Rogan ranked second in the league in scoring with 17.6 points per contest. She also finished sixth in the conference in field goal percentage (.426), first in free throw percentage (.808), second in three-point field goals per game (2.5), and seventh in steals per game (2.0).
Williams ranked sixth in the league in scoring (15.7), second in rebounding (12.0), second in field goal percentage (.567), and first in blocked shots per game (3.2). Her defensive presence assisted the Lady Tigers to hold opponents to a league-low 58.8 points per game.
In 2020-21, the Tigers went 18-6 overall and 14-1 in SWAC play. Led by fourth-year head coach
Tomekia Reed, JSU won the SWAC regular season and tournament championships and earned the No. 15 seed in the NCAA tournament.
The Tigers look to repeat as back-to-back-to-back champions.
