The Jackson State Lady Tigers became the SWAC Regular Season Champions in back-to-back years after defeating Alabama State in a thrilling 64-62 victory in dramatic fashion. The Lady Tigers trailed 20-13 after the first quarter of play but were able to use an 11-9 second quarter to take a 29-24 score into the break, with Alabama State leading by five. In the second half of play, Jackson State utilized a 21-13 third quarter scoring effort to take the lead 46-42 lead into the fourth and final quarter of play. Jackson State took a three-point lead on a pair of free throws by
J'Niya Tallie with 53 seconds to play, taking a 60-57 lead. Alabama State converted a layup to pull within a one-point 60-59 score before a JSU layup to go back up 62-59. The Lady Hornets knocked down a three-pointer with 20-seconds left in regulation to tie the score oup at 62-62. In a thrilling final moments, Jackson State knocked down two free throws to clinch the game and regular season SWAC Championship by a final score of 64-62.
Ameshya Williams led JSU with 19 points, 16 rebounds, and six blocked shots to top off the regular season against the lone team to defeat the Lady Tigers.
Dayzsha Rogan added 15 points,
Elexis Peyton had nine points,
Keshuna Luckett totaled 11 points, and Tallie finished with nine assists.

The Jackson State Lady Tigers won their 10th game in a row Saturday night, defeating Mississippi Valley State by a final score of 74-48 in SWAC play.
Dayzsha Rogan led JSU with 24 points scored on the night with four three-pointers made on the night. The Lady Tigers outscored MVSU 19-12 in the first quarter and 20-7 in the second quarter to take a 39-19 lead into the break. Jackson State then combined for 35 points compared to MVSU's 19 points, to ultimately hand MVSU a 74-48 loss in SWAC play.
Keshuna Luckett finished with 12 points and 3-of-4 shooting from the field, including four rebounds and three assists.
Ameshya Williams finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, shooting 6-of-8 from the field. Jackson State finished 30-for-53 from the field with eight three-pointers made on the night. JSU improved to 12-5 overall and 11-1 in SWAC play.
ROGAN, WILLIAMS HEADLINE ALL-SWAC TEAM
The Jackson State women's basketball team highlighted the 2020-21 All-SWAC Team. Senior
Dayzsha Rogan was named SWAC Player of the Year and placed on the first team and
Ameshya Williams earned SWAC Defensive Player of the Year and earned first-team accolades. Rogan was the preeminent scorer in the conference. The Ripley, Mississippi native averaged 17.8 points per game and tallied 356 points. Rogan was an efficient 80.3 percent (53-for-66) from the free-throw line and her 49 three-pointers led the SWAC. She also ranked in the top 40 nationally with a 41.5 percent three-point field goal percentage and tallied 40 steals which was second in the conference. Williams started the season with lofty goals and aspirations and the 6-foot-5 forward from Gulfport, Mississippi met and exceeded those expectations. Williams was absolutely dominant in front of the basket and led the conference with 65 blocked shots and 3.10 blocked shots per game and ranked in the top 10 nationally in both categories. On the boards, Williams grabbed a league-high 247 rebounds, which ranked in the top 15 nationally and 11.8 boards per game, which ranked top 15 nationally. Williams also led the conference with 135 field goals made and averaged 16 points per game.

The 2021 Cricket Wireless SWAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments will be held March 10-13 at Bartow Arena located in downtown Birmingham.
This year the SWAC has followed guidance from the CDC, NCAA and the league's COVID-19 Advisory Committee to put into place additional health and safety protocols to keep tournament participants, workers and fans safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fans attending this year's event will be required to wear a face covering/mask at all times while in attendance. Spectator seating for the event is limited (1,000 fans per session) and will be divided into socially-distanced sections.
Spectator seating will be spaced out in accordance with the CDC prescribed safety distance of at least six (6) feet apart from other seating sections. All available spectator seats will be sanitized before use and there will be increased sanitization measures performed in all commons areas throughout the duration of the event.
