Chase Campbell Joins Lady Tigers' Staff

JACKSON, Miss. – Jackson State Head Women's Basketball Coach Tomekia Reed announced Wednesday (August 18) the hiring of Chase Campbell as an assistant coach.

"Hiring Coach Campbell at this point of my career at Jackson State is just what we need. His experience and background will help catapult this program to new heights," Reed said. "He has been a head coach before and truly knows the game of basketball and will be of great assistance for our offensive and defensive schemes. As we seek to establish national prominence with our program, Coach Campbell will be vital in this approach."

Campbell, who will work with the Lady Tigers' post players, is excited to join the two-time defending Southwestern Athletic Conference champions.

"I couldn't have asked for a better coach, program, and university to work for," Campbell said. "I am blessed and honored to be a part of THEE I LOVE. I am ready to hit the ground running and help this program reel in more top recruits and more championships. The foundation is set, it's my goal to keep it rolling."

Campbell comes from Wiley College where he was the head men's basketball coach. In 2019-20 he helped the Wildcats to a 13-13 overall record and advanced to the semi-finals of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament.

Campbell served as an assistant at Benedict College, where he was the associate head coach and was responsible for coaching the big men. He groomed Brandon Morris, a former SIAC player of the year and newcomer of the year.

Campbell was the head coach at Paine College where he also spent time as an assistant. At Paine, he coached former player of the year and newcomer of the year Denzel Dillingham. Prior to Paine, Campbell served as an assistant coach at Newberry College where their offense was ranked No. 4 at the NCAA Division II level in scoring while he was on staff.

Campbell has been recognized as a unique recruiter and player developer being able to identify talent and connect with players and their families, especially in the South. He earned his undergraduate degree from Paine in 2012

His hobbies, other than basketball include spending time with his son Chase Campbell II, working out, mentoring, and traveling.
