JACKSON, MISS - Jackson State completes their two-game home stand Monday when they face off against Southern inside the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.
JSU (10-6, 8-0 SWAC) is coming off a win over Grambling State in what was their closest conference contest this season, 81-68.
Ameshya Williams-Holliday led JSU with 23 points and 11 rebounds, including a 10-for-13 performance from the field. Williams-Holliday recorded her seventh consecutive double double and 11th on the season.
Keshuna Luckett scored 16 points and dished out 6 assists.
Miya Crump registered 14 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
Daja Woodard was a force to be reckoned with off the bench recording a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Williams-Holliday has scored in double figures in every game this season and is averaging 18.4 ppg and 11.5 rpg.
The Lady Tigers have been one of the top defensive teams in the SWAC this season ranking number one in several categories including scoring defense (62.1 ppg) and blocked shots (5.19 bpg).
Southern (9-10, 7-1 SWAC) is coming off a road win over the Alcorn State Lady Braves (65-40). Southern has won their previous two conference contests before Monday.
The Jaguars are led by Brittany Rose who is averaging 10.4 points per game.
Jackson State and Southern will meet for the 34th time in women's basketball dating back to the 2005-2006 season. Last season Jackson State won both contests by a combined margin of 40.
