JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State University women's soccer team is set to host its final home games of the season Friday and Sunday at the JSU Soccer Field against Alabama State and Alabama A&M. Friday's match against the Hornets will kickoff at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday's match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Jackson State (4-6-1, 3-0-1 SWAC) seeks to continue its win streak in conference play as they take on third-seed Alabama State. JSU's last victory came against Mississippi Valley State as the Tigers edged the Devilettes, 1-0, on the road. Jackson State currently sits at the top of the conference.
Alabama State (4-5-3, 2-0-2 SWAC) is coming off of a 1-1 tie against Grambling State and a 3-0 victory with UAPB in its last weekend home stretch. The Hornets are currently ranked third in the conference. ASU opened conference play with a 0-0 tie at Texas Southern and a 5-0 win at Prairie View A&M.
Alabama A&M (3-8-1, 1-2-1 SWAC) also opened its conference slate at Prairie View A&M with a 4-1 win and a 3-1 loss at Texas Southern. The Bulldogs hosted UAPB in a matchup that ended in a 1-1 tie. AAMU fell to Grambling State, 2-0, in its last match.
Fans are encouraged to attend Sunday's Senior Day activities ahead of the match, which will begin at noon at the JSU Soccer Field. The Tigers will honor 13 seniors Sunday.
UP NEXT
Jackson State will compete at Prairie View A&M on Oct. 21 and Texas Southern on Oct. 23. The Tigers will conclude the regular season on Oct. 28 at Southern University.
