Taylor Osborn brings home a major award being named Goalkeeper of the Year. Five Tigers were named to the All-SWAC Team.
Freshman goalkeeper
Taylor Osborn has been a brick wall for the Tigers this season, posting seven shutouts this season and six consecutive shutouts along the stretch. She played in 11 games and started in 10 at the goalkeeper position, and she has played seven complete 90-minute games (869 minutes total). Osborn notched 44 saves on the season for a 0.880 save percentage and recorded a career-high seven saves versus Texas Southern and Alcorn State. Osborn registered six game-winning saves for JSU. Osborn leads the conference in three of four major goalkeeper categories, goals against avg (.621), shutouts per game (seven), and saves (44). She ranks 21
st nationally in save percentage. Oborn was also named All-SWAC First Team Goalkeeper.
Sarah Portis was tabbed All-SWAC First Team. Portis is credited with leading JSU's unbreakable defense. She played and started in 15 games for JSU this season. She has registered nine points, three goals and three assists on the season. Portis registered 20 shots and 11 shots on goal. She ranks seventh in the conference in assists. Portis has led the JSU backline that's held its opponents to 23 goals (only four in SWAC play) all season. She played 13 complete 90-minute games defending JSU's goal.
All-SWAC First Team midfielder,
Ryanne Hawthorn-Harper has been a force for JSU this season. She played and started in 14 games this season. She has scored 11 points on the season and led the Tigers with five goals and one assist. She has taken 23 shots on the season and 12 shots on goal. She ranks seventh in the SWAC in goals, eighth in points, ninth in shots on goal, and 10
th in shots and game-winning goals. Hawthorn-Harper finishes the regular season having played 1,551 minutes and eight complete 90-minute games.
Named All-SWAC Second Team, senior forward
Caylah Williams led the Tigers in points with 12 and goals finishing with five so far this season. Williams tacked on three game winning goals. Out of 18 shot attempts, Williams finished with 12 shots on goal. She finished the season having played 1,024 minutes and a two complete 90-minute games. She ranks second in the conference in game-winning goals, fifth in points, eighth in goals, and tenth in shots on goal. Williams has played in 14 games and started in 13 this season. Williams has been the lone goal scorer in three of JSU's wins this season, scoring multiple goals in two of those matches.
Sophomore defender
Kianah Farmer has played a vital role in JSU's dominant back field that has held its opponents to 23 goals (only four in SWAC matchups). Farmer finished the season with eight shot attempts and five shots on goal. She added an assist to her stat line when the Tigers defeated PVAMU. Farmer played six 90-minute games this season and recorded 971 minutes on the field. Farmer is tabbed All-SWAC Second Team.
The Tigers are set to open the 2025 SWAC Soccer Tournament Thursday morning against Alabama State. Kickoff is set for 10 am on SWACTV.
