Columbia, Mo.| The Jackson State women's basketball team is seeking a win as they take on Missouri Sunday afternoon before hosting its home opener Wednesday against Texas.
Jackson State (2-4) is coming off a highly competitive Pac-12 competition at Oregon State last week where the Tigers fell 63-53. JSU led Oregon State up until the third quarter. The Tigers lost the lead and never regained it. Ti'Ian Boler (16 pts), Liz Martino (12 pts) and Angel Jackson (10 pts, 10 reb) each scored in double figures for the Tigers. Jackson, who has started in all of her first six games as a Tiger, recorded her first double-double of the season.
Boler now leads the team in scoring averaging 9.7 points a game, followed by Jariyah Covington averaging nine points a game. Jackson leads the Tigers averaging seven rebounds a game, while Daja Woodard averages 6.2 rebounds.
Mizzou (10-1) hosts Jackson State after defeating Omaha on Friday. The Tigers' only loss so far has come from Virginia Tech (Nov. 23). Lauren Hansen continues to lead the Tigers in scoring after posting a 15-point game against Omaha.
Sunday marks the third meeting between the two programs.
