Jackson State Continues SWAC Play at Home Against Alabama A&M

JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State women's basketball team is set to host Alabama A&M Monday evening at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center after dominating Alabama State in its conference home opener Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

Jackson State (5-7, 2-0 SWAC) defeated Alabama State 90-48 in front of its home crowd Saturday afternoon. Keshuna Luckett led the pack in scoring with 17 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Angel Jackson finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four blocks. Ti'Ian Boler also added 12 points.
JSU shot 62.6 percent (33-of-53) from the field and 17-for-26 (65.5 percent) from the free throw line. The Tigers finished with 50 points in the paint, 32 bench points, 25 points off 18 Alabama State turnovers, 15 fastbreak point and seven second chance points.

Jackson State carried a 40-19 lead at the half. The 90-48 victory is the largest-ever margin of victory that Jackson State has had over Alabama State.

Alabama A&M (5-8, 3-0 SWAC) comes to Jackson State undefeated in SWAC play thus far. The Bulldogs opened conference action at home claiming victories against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (67-58) and Mississippi Valley State (77-62). AAMU faced Alcorn State on the road Saturday and walked away with a 63-56 victory. Amani Free posted 22 points in the win over the Braves with the addition of eight rebounds and one assist. Amiah Simmons registered 10 points and five rebounds.
