JACKSON, MIss.| The Jackson State men's tennis team closed out its final day of the SWAC Pod at the JSU Tennis Center Sunday afternoon against Alabama State. The TIgers fell 4-0 to the Hornets to record their first conference loss of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alabama State won the doubles point as Jackson State fell in all three of its opening matchups.
- Ruan Du Preez (ASU) and Samrakshyak Bajracharya (ASU) def. Francisco Vargas (JSU) and Raul Centeno (JSU), 6-0
- Matis Amier (ASU) and Alexandre Verlaguet (ASU) def. Carlos Castillo (JSU) and Richy Gamo (JSU), 6-2 to claim the doubles point
- David Gandinot (ASU) def. Francisco Vargas (JSU), 6-4, 6-2
- Ruan Du Preez (ASU) def. Raul Centero (JSU), 6-3, 6-2
- Samrakshyak Bajracharya def. Jesus Gonzales (JSU), 6-3, 6-3
- Kristofer Johnson (ASU) def. Gokalp Ayar (JSU), 6-4, 6-1 to secure the Hornets' win over the Tigers
- Richy Gamo (JSU) and Carlos Castillo (JSU) went unfinished.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will travel right up the road to Millsaps College Saturday. Both teams will begin at 10.00 a.m.
