JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State rattled off nine unanswered runs on its way to a 9-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over Alabama A&M at Braddy Field on Friday night.

Jackson State (22-10, 7-5 SWAC) fell behind early before putting the game with a five-run eighth inning. The Tigers pounded out nine hits in the win led by
Jordan McCladdie and
Ledy Alvarez each with two hits, while Alvarez and
Hasan Standifer each drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Garrett VanDeventer (4-3) picked up the win on the mound working 6.1 innings allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts.
CJ Lewis picked up his second save of the season working the final 2.2 innings of scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts.

How It Happened
- (T1) Miles Jackson reached on a fielder's choice allowing Dre Amaral to score on a throwing error, Alabama A&M, 1-0.
- (B3) Rodney Hibler Jr. drove in Ledy Alvarez with a sacrifice fly to tie the game, 1-1.
- (B4) Robert Tate Jr. scored Joseph Eichelberger with a squeeze bunt to give the Tigers the lead, Jackson State 2-1.
- (B7) Hasan Standifer drove in Myles White with a sacrifice fly before Alvarez hit a solo home run to left to extend the lead, Jackson State 4-1.
- (B8) Lenny Montesano tripled to right center to drive in Hibler followed by a sacrifice fly from Eichelberger to score Montesano. The inning continued with a double down the left field line by Standifer to score Sebastian Cabeza before Jordan McCladdie hit a two-run single to right, Jackson State 9-1.

The two teams will face each other in game two of the series at Braddy Field with a 3 p.m. first pitch scheduled on Saturday.
