DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Jackson State led most of the way until the bottom of the ninth when Bethune-Cookman scored four runs to pull off a 6-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory at Jackie Robinson Field on Saturday.

Jackson State (20-10, 5-5 SWAC) jumped out to a 5-1 lead through seven before Bethune-Cookman was able to score five runs in the eighth and ninth combined for twin, including four in the bottom of the ninth.

Three players -
Rodney Hibler Jr.,
Lenny Montesano, and
Robert Tate Jr. – combined for six of the eight Jackson State hits, with each picking up two hits each. Montesano also reached base two other times via walks.

Christian Womble (0-1), third of four pitchers, suffered the loss working 0.2 innings allowing four runs (two earned) on one hit while striking out two.

How It Happened
- (T5) Rodney Hibler Jr. doubled down the left field line to score Ledy Alvarez before S Cabeza singled to center to drive in Hibler and Jordan McCladdie, Jackson State 3-0.
- (B6) Jorge Rodriguez singled through the left side to drive in Jose Gonzalez, Jackson State 3-1.
- (T7) Robert Tate Jr. beat out a ball hit back to the pitcher to score Hibler before Joseph Eichelberger drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right, Jackson State 5-1.
- (B8) Sergio Rivera scored on a wild pitch, Jackson State 5-2.
- (B9) Rivera drew a bases-loaded walk to start the inning before Gonzalez singled to center Garrett Chun. Manny Souffrain singled to right to score Rivera before Gonzalez scored on an error to walk off the Tigers, Bethune-Cookman 6-5.
