JACKSON, Miss. | After back-to-back weekends on the road, Jackson State returns to Braddy Field for its home opener in a doubleheader against Lane on Wednesday afternoon.
The first pitch is set for noon for the doubleheader.Â
Jackson State (4-2) is led by Joseph Eichelberger (.450/1.206/.650/.556) at the plate with nine hits in 20 official at-bats. He has recorded a double and a home run while earning All-Tournament honors at the Cactus Jack Classic and Andre Dawson Classic to open the season. Meanwhile, Wilbert Perez (.333/.851/.476/.375) is over .300 for the Tigers with seven hits including three doubles. Arjun Huerta (.571/1.600/1.000/.600) debuted at the Andre Dawson Classic and went 4-for-7 with a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI.
On the mound, Jackson State has used four different starters through the first six games including JeAndrick Lourens (0-0, 5.06 ERA) who pitched the first Sunday of the season and logged 5.1 innings and allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits. Several Tigers have seen action on the mound this season including two-way player Shemar Harris (.286/.730/.286/.444) who has logged 3.0 innings on the mound and has given up just one hit. He is joined by Stevins Spurgeon Jr. (1-0, 0.00 ERA) who logged 2.2 innings in Houston.
