JACKSON, Miss. | The Tigers suffered a tough loss at home against Delta State on Friday afternoon in a close 4-3 decision. 

Jackson State (1-7) began the day sweeping the Statesmen in doubles competition with wins in all three matches. The duo of Maas Schotanus and Ching Chang Chiu defeated their opponents in a hard-fought 7-5 decision, while Jhoan Vaquero and Fabrizio Fallas won their match in a 6-4 decision on court three. Juniors Federico Pickenstainer and Alejandro Pinilla finished the doubles contests with a 6-2 decision. 

In singles competition, Fallas and Pickenstainer picked up wins for the Tigers. Pickenstainer earned his victory in a three-set battle after winning the first set 6-2. He went on to take the third set 6-1 to secure the win. Fallas ended his match in two sets with a 6-3, 6-4 decision. Pinilla and Chiu also forced three sets in their matchups as well.
