JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State soccer team returns home for the first home matchup of the season tomorrow at the JSU Soccer Field with a home match versus the visiting Northwestern State Lady Demons.
The Tigers are currently riding a four game losing streak but this comes against some of the top competition in the entire south region with losses to Troy, South Alabama, Arkansas State, and Southeastern Louisiana.
The Blue and White will look to grab their first win of the season in what feels to be a program that's beginning to turner the corners. "Our attitude and energy were markedly improved and I'm not going to say we've turned a corner but it sure feels like we are close" said coach Ted Flogaites after Thursday's loss to Arkansas State.
The game in slated to begin tomorrow at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING THE LADY DEMONS
Northwestern State enters Sunday's matchup with an overall record of 0-5. The team has taken on the likes of North Texas (lost 7-0), Baylor (lost 4-2), Grambling (lost 1-0), Louisiana Tech (lost 3-1), and UL-Monroe (lost 1-0).
The Lady Demons have notched a total of three goals on the season, with one each coming from Kiara Padilla, Jalen Donaldson, and Olivia Draguicevich. Jayme Haynes was awarded for the lone assist for the Northwestern State.
The Lady Demons are coached by head coaches Jess Jobe and Anna Jobe, along with graduate assistant coaches, Steffen Gawor and Kyle Jobe.
HISTORY
The two teams have met a total of three times in the past with the most recent game being played on Sept. 9, 2018 in which the Lady Demons came out on top by a final score of 8-0.
Northwestern State currently holds the edge in the series, winning all three competitions, dating back to Aug. 30, 2015 in a 4-0 win over the Lady Tigers.
NSU also won in 2017 in a 4-0 defeat over the Blue and White.
