BIRMINGHAM, Ala.| Six Jackson State soccer athletes were named to the 2023 Preseason All-SWAC Team the conference announced Friday afternoon. The Tigers were also predicted to finish first in the SWAC.
Defender
Ayanna Pinder was tabbed Preseason All-SWAC First Team along with midfielder
Sage Magruder. Pinder started in all 19 games for the Tigers last season and was part of a defense that only gave up four goals during conference play. Magruder had 12 starts for JSU last season as she scored three goals for the Tigers.
Defender
Marley Thompson, forward
Kendyl Terrell, and midfielders
Brynn Walker and
Chantae Blackwood were named Preseason All-SWAC Second Team. Thompson started in 17 games as her defensive efforts helped JSU hold nearly half of its opponents scoreless last season. Terrell started in 15 matches for JSU last season and scored six goals.
