Soccer Set to Open 2025 Campaign at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky.| The Jackson State soccer team is set to open its season Thursday evening on the road at Kentucky. Kick off is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+. 

JSU closed out the 2024 season with a record of 2-9-5 overall and 2-2-4 in conference play. The Tigers fell in the semifinal match up at the SWAC Championship Tournament. 

The Tigers are led by preseason All-SWAC First Team midfielder Karime Antonion-Lopez and Second Team forward Caylah Williams. Last season, Antonio-Lopez competed in 15 matches for JSU. She scored two goals and added two assists. She recorded 26 shot attempts and finished the season with nine shots on goal. Williams concluded the 2024 season, having played in all 16 matches for the Tigers. She notched four goals and eight points on the season. She registered 23 shots and 15 shots on goal.

This year's roster includes nine newcomers (seven freshmen and two transfers) and 21 returners. Head coach Dr. Ted Flogaites enters his seventh season at the helm of the program.
